These small fruits reflect the world in which uoqaus finds its being. Each fruit contains a scene of figurines, from selling tomatoes to engaging in a passionate embrace on the back of a motorcyle.

These sorpresas, or, surprises, come in two variations: sopresas, which depict scenes of dialy life and sorpresas pícaras, sinful surprises. These depict small figures making love, a perfect gift to make someone laugh

First created by María Dominga Herrera in 1925 in her home of Ilobasco, her legacy has since paved the way for El Salvador’s small yet distinct ceramic making community.

Each measures roughly 1”x1”
